Water apple (Chambakkai) pickle




Ingredients:
  • Water apples - 20 - 25
  • Red chilli powder - 1 1/2 tsp
  • Fenugreek (Methi) powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 1/2 tsp

Method

  • Clean and cut the water apples into 1/2 cm pieces.
  • Pour oil in a thick bottomed pan and add mustard seeds. When they splutter, add asafoetida, chilli and methi powder. Pour this onto the cut water apples.
  • Add salt and stir.
  • This can be served with curd rice / roti.
